So in a recent issue of entertainment weekly, jodie foster was talking about her fear of the audience reacting in the wrong way to her new vigilante flick, "the brave one". Specifically, she was worried people in the theater would cheer when she killed the thugs that beat her boyfriend to death. Am I missing something here? Revel in my confusion...after the jump.
So... Jodie's talking about not being able to control how your audience reacts to scenes in a film (something that reminded me of chapelle's decision to cancel his show). She cited audiences cheering the scene where she was raped in the accused. I can't imagine that actually happening, but who the hell knows what theater Jodie likes to frequent. So she follows this up with saying she hopes audiences don't cheer when she kills the thugs that beat her boyfriend to death. So this makes me wonder what kind of response were supposed to have. Am I the only person who thinks if someone beats the love of your life to death you instantly earn the right to shoot that person in the face? Maybe im the only one, so please comment below with a response to the following: If your loved one was brutally murdered, and you had the means to kill said murderer with no chance of being caught... would you?
Now that we at least know Jodie Foster's answer to the same question, i can't help but wonder why she made the flick. Especially when she says in the article that she hates the name of the film, as she disagrees with what it implies. So either she shouldn't have made the flick in the first place, or the flick is way more anti-vigilante then the trailer makes out.
Other then that though, great interview of a great actress.
